IFSI has a rich history, with deep roots in creating the highest quality seed hybrids in the world. IFSI was established in 1937.

Field Crops was established with the alliance of the IFSI dent corn business and Seed Genetics, Inc. licensings business in 2003. Field Crops specializes in dent corn research, licensing, and production.

IFSI began its Sweet Corn program in the early 1960s when the value of the shrunken-2 gene was identified.
